1st Australian Division

The Division was formed in Australia In August 1914. It embarked from Western Australia in Nov 1914. Originally bound of the UK for training it was diverted to Egypt due to accomodation problems in the UK. It landed at Egypt Dec 1914. The Division landed on Gallipoli 25 April 1915. After being withdrawn from Gallipoli the Division went back to Egypt. Whilst in Egypt the Brigades were spit to form the 13th, 14th and 15th Brigades, all six Brigades were now brought up to strength with reinforcements. The Division left Egypt for France March 1916. The Division served in France and Flanders until the Armistice.
